In the Water
Playa Guiones, Nosara is home to some of the most consistent waves in the world where you can learn to surf or hone your expertise. Our sand bottom offers a safe playground for beginners and the large fluctuation in tidal range offers a more challenging wave for seasoned pros. Our instructors are patient, experienced, certified and infectiously enthusiastic! Lessons can be arranged ahead of time or after you settle in and find your groove. Boogie boarding is another option for those that want to get a taste of the ocean’s power but don’t feel the need to complicate things by trying to stand up. The overall vibe out in the line up is one of bliss and gratitude because it’s simply that magical. If flat water is more your thing, there are canoe, kayak and boat trips to see wildlife on the Nosara River. SUP or Stand Up Paddling has recently been introduced to Nosara with several outfitters available to guide you either on the river, in the ocean or both. You can swim in the cove at Pelada Beach to the north. Snorkeling is another option and there are several areas accessible by boat or on foot that are suitable at the right tide.
On the Land
Horse rides along the beach at sunset or on a full moon is a favorite as well as MTB mountain bike tours of the beautiful Guanacaste Mountains and their magnificent ocean views. The longest zipline canopy tour in Costa Rica is also located here in Nosara. Walking along our 3 mile beach, exploring tide pools and connecting area beaches is a favorite pastime of which you will find yourself alone most of the time. A mystical pink sand beach bookmarks our southern tip while a ridge hike along Pelada Point bookmarks the north. Renting bikes and cruising around our eclectic town to visit some of the many artisan shops, farmer’s markets and restaurants is always an adventure. There are also more than a handful of studios that offer yoga, pilates, dance, personal training and kick boxing. Other activities include hiking to the local waterfall, playing tennis, mini golf, Nosara Escape and taking short day trips to surrounding beaches and farms.
Being in the presence of our resident Howler Monkey’s is an enchanting part of Nosara. You will hear them most mornings as the jungle awakens with the sun and often times you will see them right outside your window. Some days they spend hours in the trees alongside our hotel. There is also a monkey rescue facility for injured monkeys that you can visit for a closer interaction.
